Kamens & Associates Managing Member Guests On Legal Radio Show

Seth Kamens, CPA, MBA,  Managing Member at Kamens & Associates, was a recent guest on ‘Law You Should Know’. Along with Host, Kenneth J. Landau, Kamens discussed tax planning tips.

Kamens explained the time frame of when taxes have to be paid to avoid penalties for both businesses and taxpayers, “There are four quarterly payments you are supposed to make, these are called ‘estimated taxes.’ If they are not paid, then there are small interests and penalties that may come up. It is important to make sure you have made all your payments by April 15th.”   That being said, many people would prefer to keep money invested rather than pay quarterlies.   If the return on investment is larger than the interest and penalties being enforced, then paying quarterlies may not always be the best option.  These  are difficult decisions based upon your risk tolerance and absolutely should be discussed with your CPA.”

In addition, Kamens offered key advice to business owners for maintaining their financial practices, “If you are running a business, you should have these three key items. First, a business bank account. Second, have a business credit card. Link it with your bank account. Equally as important is to have some kind of bookkeeping software.”
